Roberta,
I wanted to let you know that Ellie just returned from her first hunting trip. Ellie has the pointing down as she held the birds until I gave her the command to get the bird. Ellie put up 10 birds and we took 8 of them down. She retrieved all 8 of them and WOW has she just turned in to a good dog. She is just one year old and I can’t wait to hunt again with her. Thank you for having a wonderful breed for upland bird hunting.

Here is Chantz on point in South Dakota. Lots of people commented that he was the best 1 year old in the field that they have ever seen.

Went pheasant hunting yesterday and wanted to send you a picture of Toby. I picked him up just about this time 2 years ago. He’s the one you said reminded you of Harley. He is without a doubt the most wonderful dog I’ve ever been around. He’s extremely smart and even though he’s HUGE (over 100 lbs), he the most loveable character you could imagine. I’d hate to see how big he would get if he didn’t get ran every day! Two of the pheasants are actually his. Both had broken wings that I would have lost except for my “little” buddy. Anyway just wanted you to know Toby is doing well and I couldn’t be happier.

Roberta:
Bella surpassed our expectations as a duck hunter while we were in Canada. She is quite amazing actually. She did not point, but is still learning, so I think it is a possibility. There is nothing she won’t try! Great dog!
Attached is a photo of her and her success.

The latest photo of Bella, who is an awesome swimming, retriever and all-around great dog!!!

Sandy has grown into a really pretty and intelligent girl. She is very active and athletic, built of solid muscle, weighing in at 75 lbs. Bill has hunted with her and though her exuberance sometimes gets the best of her, she has been a quick study. He is looking forward to taking her out in the coming weeks to see what this season will bring. Our daughter Alicia (age 13) has just started in beginning agility with an organized training group with Sandy. She is so easy to train and really takes to any job we give her, so my guess is she should do pretty well. She goes everywhere with us that we can take her too, including hiking, geocaching, camping and water skiing. She loves the boat and will jump into the water to *rescue* anybody in the water if she thinks she can get away with it. A person can literally hold onto her tail and she will swim them back to the boat. She is an amazingly strong swimmer.
